Residents dove under their beds or dropped to their floors as they waited for what seemed like an uninterrupted five minutes of gunshots to end in a Pacific Northwest State. The latest barrage in a year of record-breaking gunfire occurred with more than 100 bullets. They flew along the residential street shortly after 4 a.m.
Residents: Portland Police Find Quite a Few Bullet Casings
More than 130 bullet casings were recovered by Portland police. They apparently were fired from one or more of the three cars that were caught on surveillance. Then heading south on Parkrose Street. It was just east of Interstate 205. There are small one-family homes. They line the east side of the dead-end street. It is just south of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. As well as apartment complexes that hug the west side.
Gerrolyn Zenter Speaks out
In fact, Gerrolyn Zenter said the shots were loud and there were a lot. Diving to the floor was her three children – two boys, ages 8 and 6, and a 7-year-old girl.
“Moreover, all we could do was keep our kids safe. Tell them to lay down and don’t move,” she said. “All you could do was just sit there and hope that it ends.”
