PORTLAND, Oregon — Portland police arrested a man suspected of firing shots in the Gateway Neighborhood Tuesday night. The shooter did not engage with the Portland P.D.
A report of gunfire was responded to by officials in the 1100 block of Northeast 99th Avenue at 10:54 p.m.
When police arrived on the scene, they searched the area and located a man who matched the suspect description. Jeuan J. Marks, 43, was lying on the roadway in the 1500 block of Northeast 99th Avenue. Officers took him into custody.
Police canvassed near where Marks was found and located a firearm with a high-capacity magazine.
The Shooter May Have Shot Elsewhere in Portland
Officers also found evidence of gunfire in the 1100 block of Northeast 99th Avenue. They did not find any property damage from the bullets.
Marks fired multiple rounds from the firearm, investigators believe, and at some point, fell and remained on the ground until officers found him.
Marks went to the Multnomah County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine.
The Portland Police Bureau Tactical Operation Division’s Gang Enforcement Team will lead the investigation.
