The all-new Nissan Rogue last year did debut with only a mildly updated version of the last-gen engine. Now, the 2022 Nissan Rouge which is not really carrying over that is unchanging, is welcoming an all-new standard engine that is under its hood. The standard engine is another option. It has a really good engine with the Rogue which is even better than before.

Nissan Rogue Turbocharged, Variable-Compression 1.5-Liter Three-Cylinder

The Nissan Rogue 2022 is getting a turbocharged variable-compression 1.5-liter three-cylinder. Moreover, it does have the same adjusting compression ratio system that is what is being using on the turbo four-cylinder that was introducing in the Infiniti QX50 and is also offering in the Nissan Altima. It is basically that engine but with one less cylinder. There are detailing upgrades with what are roller-bearing camshafts and then there are texturing valve lifters. It would be reducing friction in the engine. Moreover, the textured surface does hold more oil. There is an updated CVT with lower and higher ratios and many friction improvements.

Nissan Rogue Fuel Economy Improves

The Nissan Rogue is a really more powerful and efficient SUV that is the result of all those changes. There is 20 more horsepower at 201 with this new model. Also 44 more pound-feet at torque at 225. Significant upgrades take the Rogue from one of the weaker entries in its segment. To also one of the strongest. Moreover, the fuel economy is going to improve as well. Then, the final numbers aren’t in. Yet, Nissan is estimating 33 mpg which is combining versus the present models’ best of 30 mpg. It’s really a win-win.

Smooth Engine and Power Delivery

Therefore, the good news is that the improvements are very noticeable behind the wheel. In fact, one of the big surprises is that the engine actually does sound smoother than the four-cylinder from which it’s obtaining. Power delivery is mighty smooth, too. The turbo does spool up faster. Plus it will give you an easy-to-use down-low torque. Moreover, it is going zip from light to light with confidence and with low revs for a quiet experience.
