If you thought electric vehicles were interesting before, than you haven’t laid eyes on the latest and greatest model from Mercedes-Benz. The VISION EQXX is beyond innovative as it just completed a 750-mile trip on only one charge between Germany and the United Kingdom. But how did this come to be? For sure, there has been a drive towards finding good efficiency on the vehicle itself. This is because the car is equipped with a 100-kilowatt hours battery pack. And while it’s not the most rare battery pack, it’s still the most potent. Simply because this battery pack offers about 500 miles of range.
Mercedes is choosing to test tech with the VISION EQXX in order to see how far they can push the efficiency. As many are able to tell, the aerodynamic features happen to maintain a drag coefficient if about 0.17. So throw that logic in and note that this VISION QXX is looking to push efficiency towards. Basically, the test Mercedes-Benz had to drive all the way from Sindelfingen around Stuttgart upon the autobahn. From there it took a scenic route through the Swiss Alps as well as Northern Italy. From there, it’s only 1,000 kilometers or 620 miles in overall distance.
But now with this 2023 model, Mercedes-Benz is making some major changes as they are hoping for beating the efficiency record in real-world driving scenarios.
It seems to be all according to their plan. This is what they said of it.
“Following its record-breaking maiden drive from Stuttgart to Cassis (France) in April, the research vehicle set the bar even higher, with a 1,202-kilometre road trip from Stuttgart to Silverstone in the UK. After negotiating an autobahn closure and demanding cross-country diversion near Stuttgart, the VISION EQXX crossed the French border near Strasbourg then cruised across northern France at highway speeds to Calais, where it boarded the Eurotunnel. Continuing its journey in the UK, it took the M25 around London then stopped off at Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix in Brackley. Waiting to greet it there were the Formula 1 and Formula.”
Of course, would you expect anything less from such a luxurious German brand?
Definitely, one of the more high-end models we’re talking about if we’re talking about the excellent moves the electric vehicle industry has made is making the more pricey vehicles more accessible to a wider range of individuals. Especially with a four-door.
Do you have any idea how many different tests that this Mercedes-Benz has had to endure to reach the other side of car manufacturing rainbows? Rather far, surely. Luckily, some Formula 1 drivers monitored the testing of the Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX.
