PORTLAND, Oregon — A driver struck and killed a pedestrian in North Portland early Friday morning, police say.
Authorities responded to the crash at 4:21 a.m. at North Basin Avenue and North Emerson Street.
When officers and medical personnel arrived on the scene, they determined the pedestrian had died.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
The Traffic Division’s Major Crash Team is investigating.
North Basin Avenue near Emerson Street will be closed in both directions until the investigation is complete.
Officers are diverting traffic around the crash scene. The area is predicted to be closed for the next few hours.
